The roar of 400 screaming
children shook the auditorium at Monte Cassino Elementary School on
Tuesday afternoon, as they jumped to their feet and cheered two
armadillos racing toward a finish line where Catholic Bishop David
Konderla waited with a checkered flag.
The Armadillo Derby was the conclusion of an hourlong show by "Armadillo Jim” Schmidt and his Put On Your Armor team.
Earlier in the fast-paced,
high-energy program, Schmidt talked about armadillos, weaving in
messages about God’s love, treating others right and avoiding the
pitfalls of life, including cruel texting and bullying.
"Armadillos are a great teaching tool. They’ve been with me for almost 40 years,” Schmidt said after the program. To read more of the article click HERE
