Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Hope is the soap that washes worry away. God isn’t a liar. He is faithful to deliver on all the promises He has pronounced. When we unswervingly hold onto our hope in Him, and those promises, we are blessed. The Psalmist distinctly puts it this way,

No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Psalm 25:3

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, Psalm 33:18

Job, in his darkest time continued to talk about his hope in God, and the lack of hope in those who do not know God. He talks about how he was nearly robbed of his hope. But ultimately, he was able to state,

Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Job 13:15

Are you a child of God? If so, you are not hopeless even in the worst of times. We can call on God, pray for strength, forgiveness, more faith and hope. The psalmist once again gives great advice for living a hope filled life.

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5

We all need to learn from God and great teachers, preachers and evangelists. Our study of His Word and hearing sound teaching uncovers for us the truth in this corrupt world. It gives us a reason to put our hope in the Lord. In fact, the Bible contains several passages about the foolishness of hoping in a mighty army or our own strength. We get our hope from God.

There is no need to worry and feel downcast when we have God on our side.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:5

A favorite verse of many to quote in time of worry and doom is Isaiah 40:31

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Leave worry by the wayside, harvest the hope you have in God. There is no better way.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you instruct us in Romans 12:12 to “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Help me to remember this verse and to live it out. I want to be joyful because of my hope in you. I can be patient in affliction and tribulation through being faithful to pray to you daily, hourly, constantly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
