Everyone seems to want to get in the last word. But, ultimately who gets the last word in each of our lives. I know it is God. God gets the last word and we can see that in His Word, the Bible. So, each week click this article link to see the latest LAST WORD for each book of the Bible. We start in Genesis.
The LAST WORD IN GENESIS

24 And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” 25 Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.” 26 So Joseph died, being one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. Genesis 50:24-26.
The last word, who will get it. The Bible says God will have the last word. Romans 3:19 states,
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
So, considering God’s Word, what is the last word in each book of the Bible? In Genesis, the last words are Joseph telling his kin that he is going to die. But that is not really the last word. His last words contain a prophecy. Prophecy has a future. This prophecy was one day God will visit them and take them to the promised land. When they go, Joseph wants to accompany them, literally and figuratively, and asks them to carry his bones to the promised land. Joseph knows God is faithful and true and will fulfill his promise to his children.
The first book of the Bible ends with a promise that God will deliver. If you read the Bible you will find time after time, God comes through for his people. He did bring the Israelites out of Egypt. He delivered them from Balaam. He delivered them from harm when they conquered the land. He delivered them from invaders. He delivered David from King Saul, Elijah from King Ahab, Jonah from the belly of a whale, Daniel from the lions’ den, and Jesus from the grave. The list could have a million more examples because God still does that today. He delivers.
Jesus told us to ask and receive so that our joy may be full. Did he mean that we should ask for cars and jewelry? No, he was talking about our needs, not our wants. What do we need most? We first need to be delivered from sin. If you have never asked Jesus to deliver you from sin you are not a child of God. Only God’s children get into heaven so those who don’t ask for deliverance spend eternity in hell. Jesus came to earth to live a sinless life and provide a perfect sacrifice for our sins. His sacrifice, when we accept Him as our savior, washes away the sins in our life. We ask him to live in us and he comes in and cleanses us, making us new, born again. He delivers us from death to life. Then, as a child of God, we serve Him rather than sin.
Prayer: To accept Jesus’ deliverance from death, sin, and the grave pray this prayer; Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. I know you died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins. I accept your sacrifice and ask you deliver me from my sins. Cleanse me and make me new. I accept you as savior. Live in me, lead and guide me. I want to be yours. In Jesus name, Amen.

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, 25 To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. Jude vs 24-25
Although Jude spends the bulk of his letter warning Christians about false teachers, preachers and professions of Christianity, the last word in Jude is an amazing prayer of praise for our great and mighty savior, Jesus Christ.
Even though we sometimes encounter those preaching false doctrine and people claiming to be Christian but live and teach that a sinful lifestyle is good, Jesus can keep us from stumbling into those snares of the devil.
Jesus can keep us from stumbling only when we draw close to Him. The Bible says if we draw close to God, He will draw close to us. Only in that intimate relationship with our Lord are we able to keep from stumbling and to be presented faultless.
God alone is wise, and we are called to seek His wisdom. James 1:5 reassures us that it is within our reach.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
If you’re wondering where wisdom starts Psalm 111:10 tells us.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Want to live a victorious life, one that isn’t tossed to and fro by the whims of this world? Want to stop being torn and misinformed by false teachers and those who call evil good? The answer lies in accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, then drawing close to Him by reading the Bible, praying daily, and following his precepts. Then you will understand and will find eternal praise.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the book of Jude and his warning about being on our guard. Help me to follow your precepts written in the Bible. Help me to stand firm in the knowledge that you are the same yesterday, today and forever and to know the difference between good and evil. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
THE LAST WORD – REVELATION

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen. Revelation 22:18-21
The final book of the Bible closes with curse and a blessing. The curse is for those who misrepresent what is said in the book of Revelation by either adding to it or taking away from it. The blessing is for the grace of the Lord Jesus to be with His people.
Recently a lead block was found on Mt. Ebal that contained an inscription about God’s curse for those who don’t follow the law. It was inscribed around 1500 B.C. The news article said it would change Biblical interpretation of when things happened. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are so called Bible scholars who teach that the entire Old Testament was written between 300 to 600 B.C. However, the Bible says Moses wrote the Pentateuch, (the first 5 books of the Bible) and he lived around 1500 B.C. While those teachers are not taking away from the book of Revelation, they are misleading people about the Bible. Jesus had no kind words for those who misinterpret God’s Word and lead people astray. He said in Matthew 18:6
“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
When blessed by ‘The Grace of our Lord Jesus’ some might ask what that blessing means. I like the Reverend J. Patrick Street’s answer published in the January 19, 2019 Marion Star, where he says,
“You see that the grace of God is more than salvation but also everything we need for life and godliness. The definition of grace could be “God’s life, power and righteousness given to us by unmerited favor.” It is through grace that God works effective change in our hearts and lives. Grace gives us a new life which is not condemned by God.”
Not being condemned by God is not only a definite blessing, but a defining blessing. May God’s blessing and grace be with you now and forevermore.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the book of Revelation. Thank you for the entire Bible. Thank you that your book is so complete that every last word you told us is worth studying and remembering. Let me live in your grace, blessed to be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
